Contemporary Persian literature, with all its diversity of voices, lived experiences, and historical and cultural discourses, relies on translation in its engagement with the outside world. Translation can be both a bridge to connect with global culture and a window through which distortion and misunderstanding may occur.

In this lecture, Dr. Alireza Abiz presents his critical perspective on the global standing of Persian literature as reflected through translation:

“From the opportunities that have enabled cultural exchange, to the linguistic, stylistic, and institutional challenges that have complicated its path to globalization. We will also explore how misinterpretations, oversimplifications, and ideological filters in the process of translation and representation can sometimes produce an inaccurate and diminished image of Persian literature — and what can be done to make this process more conscious and effective.”
