About Jaleh Esfahani Cultural Foundation
The Foundation was set up in December 2007, a few days after the death of Jaleh Esfahani, an Iranin poet who lived in exile in London the final 25 years of her life.
Jaleh Esfahani Cultural Foundation is a charitable cultural organisation and is registered as a charity with the UK Charity Commission, no. 1187620.
The main objectives of the Foundation are as follows:
To advance public education and participation in, and appreciation of, Iranian/Persian culture, tradition, language, history, music, poetry, film and theatre, in particular but not exclusively by:
• Organising public performances, poetry nights, lectures, literary and arts and cultural events.
• Help young persian-speaking poets and artists from Afghanistan, Iran, and Tajikistan and the diaspora, by supporting their work and organising annual poetry and arts festivals and awarding prizes (started in 2009 ).
• Educational workshops and talks in Persian and English on issues of culture, literature and arts.
• Promoting the study and research of Iranian and Persian arts and literature and to disseminate the results accessible to the public
• The provision of grants to other orgnisation or individuals in works related to the charity’s objecs.
The Foundation has adopted the Charity Commission’s CIO (‘Foundation’ model constitution) as its governing document.
The Foundation is open to all who agree with its aims, abide by its constitution and apply in writing to be an associate member.
