DAUGHTERS OF PERSIA
Support this groundbreaking new show and help support young women artists – musicians, writers, poets, painters – from Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan. All donations can be gift aided.
About the Show
Daughters of Persia celebrates one of the great cultures of the world, through the stories of its extraordinary women. This semi-staged drama brings to life the rich history and mythology of Persia, told through powerful narration and evocative music.
Created by the acclaimed British pianist Margaret Fingerhut MBE and rising Iranian composer Farhad Poupel (currently in the UK on a Global Talent visa), the show is scripted by Oscar and BAFTA-nominated screenwriter William Nicholson OBE (Gladiator, Les Misérables).
The Music
The performance features a trio of piano, violin, and cello, playing works by renowned Iranian composers such as Farhad Poupel, Reza Vali and Golnoush Khaleghi. The repertoire also includes much-loved pieces by Rimsky-Korsakov, Prokofiev, Casals and Ravel.
A highlight of the evening is a new work commissioned especially for this project: The Laughter of Gordafarid, composed by Poupel for narrator and piano.
Our Mission
This powerful production aims not only to entertain but also to inspire and give back. The gala première will be at Kings Place London on 25th January 2026. It will then tour to theatres and festivals in the UK and USA.
All proceeds from the tour will help create scholarships for exceptional young women artists from Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan, giving them access to opportunities in the arts they might not otherwise have.
