Nowruz 1405: In Solidarity, Memory, and Hope

The Centre for Iranian Studies at SOAS, University of London invites you to Persianate New Year, Nowruz, event. Nowruz (New Day), marks the arrival of spring — a time of renewal, reflection, and hope for a new beginning. Yet this year many of us welcome the new year with heavy hearts, as our homeland continues to endure profound hardship and loss.
Nowruz offers an opportunity for our community to come together at this difficult moment. It is a space to stand in solidarity with one another, to honour the memory of those who are no longer with us, and to reflect on the resilience of the Iranian people.
Bringing together artists, musicians, and scholars from across the Persianate world, this gathering will create a moment of shared reflection, cultural expression, and community. Through music, conversation, and remembrance, we mark the arrival of spring while reaffirming the values that Nowruz has always carried: renewal, compassion, and the hope for a more peaceful and just future.
